Citizens of Pakistan living abroad or with references in Pakistan can obtain the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart NICOP. NICOP is valid for ten years after issuance. Consequently, Pakistani can issue this card to all citizens in place of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

CNIC and NICOP are both national identification cards. These cards share the same citizenship number or NADRA ID number. The only difference between the Smart ID Card and the Smart NICOP is the microchip. Additionally, NICOP and Smart NICOP are not interchangeable.

Required Documents

For NICOP card renewal application applicants must provide the following documents:

ESSENTIAL

  • A computerized copy of your national identification card.
  • Your old passport's first two pages.
  • Form for attestation of minors (in the case of minors).
  • And an employee of the Pakistani government must have a No-Objection Certificate or NOC.

MINORS

British, French, Italian, Belgian, Icelandic, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, Finnish, Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, Swiss, Netherlands, United States, Sweden, Ireland, Bahrain, Danish, and German as well as a specific group of only Pakistani children born in Germany and raised there;
